Privacy policy

What we collect

When you submit a quote or consultation request, we collect the details you provide: your name, business name, email address, optional phone number, existing website, project preferences, and any notes you write. If you choose to join a mailing list through the site, your email address is stored with the email platform we use.

This site also uses Google Analytics and Metricool to collect standard, anonymous usage data such as pages visited, approximate region, and device/browser type. We do not use them to identify you personally.

How it's used

Your information is used only to respond to your enquiry, prepare a quote, and deliver the work you hire us for. If you join a mailing list, your email is used only for the communications you signed up for. We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't add you to a mailing list unless you ask.

Service providers

We work with a small number of service providers to run this site and handle enquiries. These include the customer-relationship platform that stores quote requests, the email platform used for newsletters, the booking provider used for consultation scheduling, and the analytics providers Google Analytics and Metricool. These providers may process or store information outside Canada, including in the United States.

If payment is collected through the website in future, payment details will be handled by the payment provider rather than stored by Built Different Design Co.

Cookies & tracking

We keep this simple. Nothing non-essential runs on this site until you allow it, and there are no advertising, retargeting or social media pixels anywhere on this site.

Necessary (always active). Technology needed to serve and secure the site, and browser storage that remembers your cookie choice. If you sign in to a secure area of the site, our backend also stores a session in your browser so you stay signed in.

Analytics (your choice). Google Analytics 4, which sets cookies beginning with _ga to measure page views and how visitors move through the site, and Metricool, which measures website traffic and performance. Neither is loaded at all unless you allow analytics, and neither is used for advertising.

Functional (your choice). Our newsletter sign-up form is hosted by HubSpot. When that form loads, HubSpot sets its own cookies (such as hubspotutk, __hstc and __hssc) to link a submission to a visit. The form is not loaded unless you allow functional cookies.

Marketing / advertising. Not applicable - we run no ad or social tracking pixels.

Some links take you to services we don't control - Cal.com for booking a consultation and Square for checkout. Those pages set their own cookies under their own policies once you go there.

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the Cookie Preferences link in the footer, and you can block or delete cookies through your browser settings.

How long it's kept

Enquiry records are kept for as long as needed to respond to you and for reasonable business records. You can ask us to delete your information at any time (see below), and we'll do so unless we're required to keep it for legal or accounting reasons.

Security

We take reasonable precautions to protect the information you submit, including using reputable service providers and secure connections. No system is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute protection of any data transmitted online.

Your choices

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the information you've submitted at any time by emailing mandy@builtdifferentdesignco.com. We'll respond as soon as we reasonably can.
